How does it actually work? +
Set it up in about five minutes — choose a biographer's voice, add a few photographs, tell us who they are. Then they simply talk: a warm, patient biographer asks about their life and follows the thread, whenever they feel like it. We produce those conversations into a beautifully finished audiobook — in their own voice, with music and their photographs — on a private family page to keep and share.
What does it cost? +
One payment, no subscription — priced by recording time. Memory ($149) is one hour of recording time (up to an hour of finished audio, typically 40–60 min); Story ($499) is five hours of recording time (about four to five hours finished) — most families' choice, and it includes a free Memoir mic in the U.S.; Legacy ($999) is ten hours of recording time (about eight to ten hours finished) plus one new chapter every month for a year. You have a full year to record, and you can move up a plan anytime.
How long is the finished memoir? +
Each plan is priced by recording time — Memory is one hour of recording, Story five, Legacy ten. The finished memoir runs up to that length — an hour of recording is typically 40–60 minutes finished. We gently edit out filler words, false starts, long pauses, and any technical issues like background noise, so it stays warm, clean, and easy to listen to — and naturally a little shorter than the raw recording.
What is a recording session like? +
Relaxed and unhurried — usually about twenty minutes, at their own pace, with no script and no pressure. The biographer listens, asks gentle follow-up questions, and never rushes. They can pause and come back whenever they like, and even a short session is saved.
Whose voice is the finished memoir in? +
Theirs — always. The audiobook is your loved one's real voice telling their real stories, gently produced with music and sound. Nothing is faked or replaced. Keeping their actual voice, forever, is the whole point.
What if they're not comfortable with technology? +
It's made for exactly them: one button, a friendly voice, no apps or menus to learn. And if a call ever drops, nothing is lost — the biographer picks up right where they left off.
What will the chapters be about? +
Whatever matters to them — childhood and roots, family, love and marriage, work and calling, the hard times and how they came through, the people they've loved, and the wisdom they'd want to pass on. You can suggest topics when you set it up, and the biographer draws out the rest naturally.
How do we get the best sound? +
A quiet room does most of the work — close the door, turn off the TV, and let them speak naturally. Story and Legacy include a free Memoir mic (U.S.) that makes every story warm and clear, with nothing to set up. And we clean and master every recording afterward, so it always sounds beautiful.
